Kolkata, Nov 17 (UNI) The West Bengal government was trying to bring in investments in the IT hardware sector and looking at formulating an IT hardware policy by next year.

Inaugurating the computer hardware fair "Compass", state IT Minister Devesh Das told reporters that the state was trying to attract companies specialising in GLSI and Novel technologies in the hardware segment.

The proposed IT park at Kharagpur would house both software and hardware firms, he said.

" We are giving more stress to software development related to hardware sector like that in mobile telephones, " Mr Das said.

The state was also trying to develop its e-governance platform and keeping a close watch at the semi-conductor policy being formulated by the Centre, he said adding the state government wanted an e-governance platform in Bengali.
