A joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Police and Special Task Force rescued the child from his kidnappers at about 1130 hrs, Inspector General of Police (Meerut Range) N B Singh said.
''The three arrested are being questioned. The three-year-old Anant underwent a medical check-up.'' Refusing to elaborate on the ''operation'' which led to the child's release, Mr Singh said details would be disclosed at the press conference, scheduled in the evening.
Meanwhile, Anant's father told mediapersons that his family was in constant touch with the abductors all through the nearly five-day 'ordeal'. ''About a dozen-odd calls were received during this period by us from them in which they demanded Rs 60 lakh as ransom.'' However, no money was paid to the abductors, he added.
