Anand Municipal Council chief announces 23 committees

Anand, Nov 17 (UNI) Newly-elected president of Anand Municipal Council Jairaj Patel today held the first meeting of the Municipal members and announced formation of 23 committees.

The meeting was attended by 39 members. Mr M G Gujarati, who had acted as a caretaker president following the Supreme Court judgment, submitted his resignation before the meeting. Earlier, the Supreme Court in its order on March 23, 2006, had said that the then vice-president M G Gujarati would be acting as president until the case was finally disposed off and a new president takes over.

The meeting was attended by 19 BJP members, 12 from Anand Vikas Manch, four independents and four from the Opposition headed by Mr Shashikant Patel who had contested against Mr Jairaj Patel.
