A week-long Indo-German Film Festival begins

Bangalore, Nov 17 (UNI) A week-long Third Indo-German Film Festival began here today. It would be a real feast to film lovers as the organisers have proposed to screen high quality Films of both India and Germany during the Festival.

Talking to newsmen here, Max Muller Bhavan Director Dr Evellin Hust said that top German films from the recent past will be screened along with quality Indian films. Children Films from both the countries will also be screened during the Festival.

Film Directors, Producers and Actors will present their films and participate in 'Meet the Filmmaker" sessions immediately after the screening their Film. "This unique initiative will enable the Bangaloreans the chance to interact once again at close quarters with German and Indian film makers" The event will also witness a high-level trade interaction which was expected to provide a fil-lip to the film industry in Karnataka, with the participation of the National Film Development Corporation of India, national and local film distributors.

Mr Vasant Mokashi, film maker and co-ordinator of the Indo-German Film Festival who also spoke on the occasion has said that the event is gaining popular and has became more of a cultural event and is taking shape into a more of holistic cultural activity between two countries.

He said that the Film Festival with the theme of 'Two Nations '- a Single Screen' will present best of Seven German films, three each from Malayalam and Kannada, one each from Bengali, Tamil and Telugu apart from two children films from both India and German.

The Indian films to be screened included 'I did not kill Gandhi' (Hindi) directed by Jahnu Barua, Cynide (Kannada) Directed by Ramesh, Haseena (Kannada) Directed by Girish Kasaravalli and Kamli (Telugu) Directed by K N T Sastry.

He said that 7-day event will be held at the renovated Lavanya theatre in the city with the screening of the inagural film Octoberfest (German) in the evening.
