35 former players for veteran cricket tourney from Jan 17

Kozhikode, Nov 17 (UNI) As many as 35 former first class cricketers from India and Pakistan would participate in a four-series Veteran's Cricket Tournament from January 7 to 17, Board for Veterans Cricket in India (BVCI) said today.

The probable venues for the 11-day series would be Jaipur, Dehradun and Kozhikode, BVCI vice president J K Mahindra said after a meeting with City Corporation Mayor M Bhaskaran.

The fourth venue and the dates of the the tourney would be decided at a meeting of the international committee scheduled to be held at New Delhi next week.

The senior players were Wasim Akram, Waqar Unees, Rashid Latif, Amir Sohail, Mohd AZharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Robin Singh, Manoj Prabhakar and Venkatesh Prasad, among others, he said.

Stating that the Mayor had consented to make available the corporation stadium for the match, he said work of the pitch would be started in December.
