Vidhu Vinod Chopra felicitated by Punjab government

Mumbai, Nov 16 (UNI) Filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra was honoured with the Sunil Dutt Punjab Rattan award by the Punjab government for his contribution to Indian cinema in Amritsar today.

''The Sunil Dutt Punjab Rattan Award was conferred on Mr Chopra for his services rendered to Indian cinema and giving the right direction to people through his films, the latest being the path breaking film ''Lage Raho Munnabhai'' which was released in September this year,'' a press release here said.

The award has been instituted by the Punjab government to confer on its people from their soil who have made a contribution to society in any way. The award comprises a cash prize of Rs one lakh, a memento and a certificate.

Mr Chopra said he was grateful to the Punjab government for bestowing the honour on him. ''This appreciation and love has encouraged me to make films from the heart and offer the best to the audiences,'' he added.
