Uttam Galva hikes prices by Rs 1,000 per tonne

New Delhi, Nov 16: Uttam Galva Steels Ltd (UGSL) today increased prices of all its galvanised steel products by Rs 1,000 per tonne with immediate effect.

The company has attributed this hike to the increase in zinc prices.

UGSL, one of the largest producers of galvanised steel in the country, posted a jump of 179 per cent in net profit at Rs 27.56 crore for the quarter ended September 2006, as against Rs 9.88 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

The net sales of the company also climbed by 79 per cent at Rs 656.83 crore for the said quarter as compared to Rs 367.80 crore for the same quarter a year ago.
