Top seeds Gutta and Kurian make women doubles final
Mumbai, Nov 16 (UNI) Top seeded Indian women pair of Jwala Gutta and Shruti Kurian today took their appointed place in the final of the 10,000 dollar Indian International badminton tourney, beating Jung Soo Hong and Hang In Sun of Korea in straight game.
They will meet the Korean pair of Kyung Youn Jung and Jung Min Kim who beat compatriots Young Kyun Yoo and EunKyung Jung 21-19, 21-12.
The top seeded Indians had no problem in quelling the challenge of the Korean girls winning easily 21-15, 21-17.
In the other semi-final, Young Kyun Yoo and EunKyung Jung ran their countrymnates Kyung Youn Jung and Jung Min Kim close in the first game before going down at 19-21. After the loss of the first game Young Kyun Yoo and Eun Kyung Jung lost the stomach for a fight and caved in meekly in the second game to lose at 12-21.
The men's semi-finals saw mixed results for India with Rupesh Kumar and Thomas Sanave making the final with a straight game win over Khoo Chung and Abdul Latif Mohd of Malaysia at 28-26, 21-19, while the other Indian pair of V Diju/J B S Vidyadhar going down fighting to the Malaysian pair of Chan Peng Soon and Chang Hun Pin in tough three games. The Malaysian pair won at 21-16, 7-21, 21-10 to make the final.
