TDP, BJP candidates file nominations for LS by-polls
Hyderabad, Nov 16 (UNI) L Ramana and Kondapalli Appala Naidu of the TDP today filed nominations for the Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha constituencies respectively, for which by-elections are due on December 4, 2006.
P Sanyasi Raju of the BJP also filed his nomination for the Bobbili constituency in Vizianagaram district today.
While the Karimnagar seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Telangana Rashtra Samiti head and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, Bobbili seat fell vacant due to the death of TDP MP K Paidithalli Naidu.
Mr Chandrasekhara Rao earlier resigned from the Union Cabinet along with his colleague A Narendra, protesting against the delay in the announcement on formation of separate Telangana. He has termed the ensuing by-election as a referendum on Telangana.
While Congress candidate and MLA T Jeevan Reddy and BJP candidate and former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao filed nominations for the Karimnagar seat, a nomination on behalf of Mr Chandrasekhara Rao was filed by MLA and former Minister Capt Lakshmikanta Rao yesterday.
Botsa Jhansi, Vizianagaram Zilla Parishat Chairman and wife of AP Marketing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana filed her nomination yesterday as the Congress candidate for the Bobbili constituency.
Telugu Desam Legislature Party Deputy Leader T Devender Goud, who led the rally of his party candidate L Ramana in Karimnagar said his party would expose the shallowness of both Congress and TRS and win both the Lok Sabha seats. The response the TDP got for its rally today was a pointer to its victory, he added.
Appala Naidu, addressing a rally in Bobbily, said his father won the seat thrice because of his sincerity and devotion to the people and the goodwill the family had would put him in good stead.
