Students awarded to conclude NMD
Jamshedpur, Nov 16 (UNI) Tata Steel Centenary Rolling trophy was presented to Students for writing technical papers related to steel industry on the concluding day of the mega National Metallurgists' Day (NMD) celebrations and annual technical meeting of Indian Institute of Metals (IIM) today.
Metallurgical Engineering students from ten colleges from across India, including IITs and NITs, presented papers in front of a galaxy of experts.
Top five teams selected for the coveted trophy included Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, IIT Roorkee, NIT here and BIT, Sindri.
B.Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel and president, IIM, bestowed the Tata Steel Centenary Rolling trophy on NIT for presenting the best technical paper.
Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University and Jadavpur University, Kolkata, jointly won the Tata Steel Centenary Rolling trophy as runners-up and was presented the same by Mr B Muthuraman.
The students were rewarded for their efforts and all the ten papers authored by the students have been released in form of a special volume.
The participation of the students in such a large number, and in such detail, had been one of the highlights of NMD-ATM, 2006.
The concluding day of NMD-ATM also marked the presentation of 84 more technical papers along with keynote addresses by experts.
