Siddaramaiah seeks support of scion of Mysore royal family
Mysore, Nov 16 (UNI) In a significant development, former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Congress candidate for Chamundeshwari by-election Siddaramaiah today called on scion of the erstwhile Mysore royal family Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar at the palace here and sought his support.
In the closed door meeting, Mr Siddaramaiah requested Mr Wadiyar to actively participate in the electioneering work.
Later speaking to reporters here, Mr Wadiyar said there were no differences between him and Mr Siddaramaiah and exuded confidence that the latter would win the elections. He would tour the constituency and campaign for Mr Siddaramaiah from November 27 and attend the Congress rally here tomorrow. His primary concern was the victory of the party and Mr Siddaramaiah joining the party would only strengthen it further in the region, he added.
Mr Siddaramaiah came down heavily on Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy for filing cases against former Minister and Congress leader D K Shivakumar in the mining issue. The action on the eve of the Chamundeswari by-election was an act of revenge against Mr Shivakumar and his family members.
