SC refuses bail to Pappu Yadav
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Supreme Court today rejected the bail plea of controversial RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan, alias Pappu Yadav, in the CPM leader Ajit Sarkar murder case.
The appeal was dismissed by a Bench comprising Justice S B Sinha and Justice Markenday Katju.
''We do not find any merit in the appeal, and the same is therefore dismissed,'' the Bench observed.
Yadav, an MP from Madhepura in Bihar, was shifted to Tihar Central Jail in Delhi from Patna on the orders of the Supreme Court.
The Bench directed the trial court to take up the hearing of the case on a day-to-day basis so that the trial could be concluded expeditiously.
Yadav had appealed for bail in the apex court against the Patna High Court order, which had earlier dismissed his bail petition.
The apex court, on October 31, had reserved its verdict on his plea.
