S P Apparels inaugurates garment-making facility

Coimbatore, Nov 16: S P Apparels Limited, a leading fully-integrated garment exporter, today inaugurated a new garment-making facility at Avinashi near here with an investment of Rs 38 crore.

The new unit, set up with 1,000 sewing machines, would generate employment for an additional 3,000 people. The facility was inaugurated by Tirupur Export Association President and Federation of Indian Exporters Organisation (FIEO) Chairman (Southern Region) A Shaktivel.

According to a company release, this facility alone could bring in an additional Rs 200 crore of business for the company and help in consolidating its operations in-house and increase capacity by fifty per cent.

The company was making these concerted efforts with a view to step up the scale of operations to handle its growth rate. Last year, the company recorded a 25 per cent growth rate.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, company Chairman and Managing Director P Sundararajan said ''the state-of-the-art facility has been built with a view to be competitive in the international market post-2008 when quota restrictions on China is abolished and the real quota-free world comes into place.''
