Jammu: Plot to kill top jail officials foiled
Jammu, Nov 16: Jammu and Kashmir police have foiled a plot to assassinate two top jail officials, hatched by the Pakistan-based militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) inside the Kot Bhalwal Central Jail, sources said here today.
CID, Counter Intelligence, apprehended a contract killer Akash, alias Makora, a resident of Subash Nagar, who had been delivered a consignment by a HM commander for executing the task.
A pistol, delivered by the Anantnag-based commander of HM, Sajid Khan, a Pakistani, was recovered from Makora.
Sources said the plot to kill Kathua jail Superintendent Vinod Sharma and Deputy Superintendent Jagdish Kotwal was struck for Rs 7 lakh inside the high-security Kot Bhalwal Central Jail, a couple of months back.
