Opposition demands debate on Minister's violation of code of conduct
Bhubaneswar,Nov 16 (UNI) Orissa Assembly today witnessed pandemonium as the Opposition demanded removal of State Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal for violating the code of conduct during the Talsara(ST) Assembly by-election.
The issue cropped up during the zero hour when Opposition member showed news paper reports and demanded that the Revenue Minister be dismissed for violating the code of conduct. They urged the Speaker to allow a debate on the issue in the House.
Speaker Maheswar Mohanty, however, did not pay any heed to the Opposition's demand and asked BJD member Pratap Jena to raise his special mention, the peeved Opposition trooped into the well and shouted slogans disrupting the business of the House.
Seeing that the House was not in order and pandemonium inside the well, the Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes to pacify the agitated Opposition.
When the House reassembled after the adjournment, the Speaker said he would examine as to whether the allegation of the violation of code of conduct against the Minister could be discussed in the House and give his ruling.
The matter then subsided and the Opposition who were seen on their feet, participated in the proceedings of the House.
