Opposition demands debate on minister's violation of code of conduct
Bhubaneswar, Nov 16 (UNI) Orissa Assembly today witnessed pandemonium as the Opposition demanded the removal of State Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal for violating the code of conduct during the Talsara(ST) Assembly by-election.
The issue cropped up during the zero hour when Opposition member showed newspaper reports and demanded the dismissal of Revenue Minister for violating the code of conduct. They urged the Speaker to allow a debate on the issue in the House.
When Speaker Maheswar Mohanty, did not pay any heed to the Opposition's demand and asked BJD member Pratap Jena to raise his special mention, the peeved Opposition trooped into the well and shouted slogans disrupting the business of the House.
The Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes to pacify the agitated Opposition.
When the House reassembled after the adjournment, the Speaker said he would examine as to whether the allegation against the Minister could be discussed in the House and give his ruling.
