Notorious burglar arrested

Puducherry, Nov 16 (UNI) Police arrested a notorious burglar hailing from Ginjee in Villuppuram district of Tamil Nadu and seized stolen property worth Rs 3.5 lakhs from him.

Talking to media persons here today, Inspector General of Police Kishan Kumar said the night patrolling team of the Reddiyarpalayam police intercepted a youth here last night.

On questioning he admitted that the jute bag he was carrying contained stolen property.

The youth R Murthy(23) confessed that he had committed burglary at Ariyanakuppam, Orleanpet and some other areas here.

Later, he was produced before the judicial magistrate Vaidyanathan and was remanded to 15 days judicial custody.

Mr Kumar said a special team had been formed in all the areas to conduct night patrolling.

The residents should keep one light on in their house while going out of station and should inform the neighbours, he added.
