Nava Nalanda Mahavihara Deemed To Be University

New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) The Nava Nalanda Mahavihara at Nalanda, Bihar was today declared a Deemed to be University subject to its ending some existing affiliations, the Human Resource Development Ministry announced today.

The Mahavihara's new stature will take effect frm the day it disaffiliates itself from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Darbhanga, the announcement said.

It said the HRD Ministry acted on the advice of the University Grants Commission.

Nalanda was one of India's foremost seats of learning.
