National Instruments launches LabVIEW 8.20
Bangalore, Nov 16 (UNI) National Instruments, a leader in virtual instrumentation, today launched LabVIEW 8.20, the 20th anniversary edition of its flagship software product LabVIEW graphical system design platform for test, control and embedded system development.
Speaking on the occasion here, company Vice-President (Marketing and Customer Operations) Jong Graff said the launch was in alignment with the company's vision of evolving virtual instrumentation into graphical system design.
Describing India as one of the most active countries in engineering and research, he said the revolutionary approach of blends intuitive LabVIEW 8.20 graphical programming and flexible commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware help engineers and scientists more efficiently design, prototype and deploy embedded systems. With the application of improved version of the tool, system level engineers and domain experts could accurately work with systems of increased complexity and scale, thereby drastically reducing the time from design to deployment, he added.
Mr Graff said India had become more important for the company's strategical growth as it was responsible for much of the cutting-edge engineering works. With the Asia region contributing over 30 per cent of its revenue, the company had plans to widen its R and D bases and increase its headcount to meet the demand.
He said LabVIEW 8.20 combined an open design platform that embraced multiple tools and design approaches with powerful, custom measurement capabilities to streamline product development through an integrated design, prototyping and deployment platform. The new version had additional features which include supporting textual math in graphical dataflow programming through MathScript. It also reinforced ease of use by streamlining the prototyping and deployment of realtime embedded designs on NI CompactRIO or PZI hardware platforms, as well as standard desktop computers, FPGAs or custom board designs, all using the same graphical programming approach.
The company had registered over 600 million US Dollars revenue last year, 60 per cent of which was generated outside the US.
