Mazzini powers Majaara to superb victory
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Gerardo Mazzini fired five goals as Majaara sunk Navy 10-7 to move into the semifinal of the Taragarh Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup (14 goals) Polo here today.
In the other quarterfinal tie, Kingfisher First outlasted Royal Kashmir 9-6 to book a berth in the last four stage.
Majaara opened their account through Satinder Garcha while Mazzini added one more in the first chukker to give his team a 2-0 lead.
Three strikes by Mazzini and one from Satinder, as compared to two from the Navy side with AP Singh and Vishal Singh doing the honours, Majaara still held the upperhand at the end of second chakker. Haracio Etchevery fired two goals in succession while Satinder added one more to his kitty to maintain the pressure on the Naval side.
Samir Suhag did try to salvage some pride for the Navy side scoring two goals in the fourth chukker while Mazzini scored his fifth goal for Majaara. Haracio scored once again to take his side to a 10-5 lead. In a late charge, Samir scored a brace but could not help his team being ousted from the tournament.
In the other match, Dhruvpal Godara, displaying some fine horsemanship skills, darted seven goals to help Kingfisher First reach the semifinal stage. Angad Kalaan scored four out of six goals for Royal Kashmir.
