Manipur observed Press Day

Imphal, Nov 16 (UNI) The National Press Day was observed today at the Manipur Press Club organised by the state government's IPR department in association with All Manipur Working Journalists' Union and the Editors' Forum.

Information Minister T N Haokip speaking on the occasion said the responsibility of the media was increasing day by day and the scribes should try to evolve itself withg the situation.

He urged the scribes to emphasise on rural developmental reporting rather than going for crime report. He lauded the Manipur media for following the ethics.

He said the exchange of knowldege and ideas among the scribes from different states would help each other to understand problem of the soceity.

State Information Commissioner H Devshekhar said the media should act as a mirror of the society.

A seminar on journalism, ethics, society in the age of globalisation was also held to mark the day.
