"Landlords killed Ajit Sarkar," Pappu
Patna, Nov 16 (UNI) Incarcerated RJD MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav today denied his involvement in the murder of CPI(M) MLA Ajit Sarkar and charged the landlords of Purnea with "killing" the Legislator.
Mr Yadav, specially brought here from Tihar jail in New Delhi, was produced before additional district and sessions judge of Patna Virendra Mohan Srivastava, who recorded his statement in the case under Section 313 of the code of criminal procedure.
In his statement, Mr Yadav alleged that Mr Sarkar had tried to distribute the land of the landlords among the landless people and this act had infuriated the landlords.
Mr Yadav further stated that he was implicated in the case under a conspiracy, hatched by the landlords, saying he enjoyed good relation with the slain leader.
In reply to the posers of the court, Mr Yadav denied his involvement in the murder of Mr Sarkar and dismissed the charge that he had given a contract of Rs ten lakh to Rajan Tiwary to kill Mr Sarkar.
The court fixed November 23 as the date for recording the statement of former MLA Rajan Tiwary and other accused in the case.
