Karzai visits Advanced Study

Shimla, Nov 16 (UNI) The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai today visited the prestigious Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) today.

He was at the Institute for about an hour. The President visited the lawns and gardens of the Institute and spent some time in the library. He also showed keen interest in the publications of the Institute.

''What a feeling after so many years to visit the Institute. It is as pleasing to the eye and mind as ever. Hope to visit again, rather soon,'' observed Mr Karzai in the visitors book of the Institue.

The President was received at the Institue by Mr Ashok Sharma, Public Relations Officer of the Institue, who presented a bouguet to Mr Karzai and conducted the visit.

Mr Karzai who was in a relaxed mood, walked down from Cecil Hotel where he is staying to the Institute. He spent a lot of time near the Chinar trees in the back lawns of the Institute and recollected the fond memories of his student days at the HP University.
