Kalpathi Rathotsavam conludes

Palakkad, Nov 16 (UNI) The three-day traditional Kalpathy ''Rathotsavam'' (chariot festival), one of the biggest festivals in Malabar area concluded today.

The festival which began on November 13 at the Viswanathaswamy temple at Kalapathy, is dedicated to Lord Siva.

Well-known Carnatic musicians participated in a Carnatic music festival, organised by the Tourism Department, in connection with the festival, On the concluding day, Chariots carrying the deities of old Kalpathy and Chathapuram temples were taken around in the nearby villages.

The Chariot festival is conducted in keeping with the Vedic traditions of the Brahmin settlers at Kalpathy Agraharams.

Though the festival is celebrated by Brahmin settlers, equal rights are given to people from other communites to participate in teh festival.
