Kalam concerned over Dharia's health
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) President APJ Abdul Kalam has expressed concern over the health of socialist leader and former Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission, Mohan Dharia, who was admitted to hospital in Pune after going on an indefinite fast.
Dr Kalam enquired about his health and wished him a speedy recovery, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said today.
Mr Dharia, 82, was taken to hospital from an indefinite fast to demand help for distressed farmers, after he complained of chest pain.
He was discharged today from hospital.
Mr Dharia was the Union Commerce Minister in the Morarji Desai government, and served as the deputy chairman of the planning commission in the Chandra Shekhar government.
A group of farmers staged a candle light vigil in support of the demands.
