Jacob to lead Vadodara in opening Ranji match vs Karnataka

Vadodara, Nov 16 (UNI) Jacob Martin will lead the Vadodara team in the side's opening Ranji trophy Elite group ''A'' match against Karkanata to be played at the Motibaug ground here from November 23.

The notable absentees in the 15-member squad announced by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) were speedster Irfan Pathan, now doing national duty in South Africa and team's regular opener Satyajit Parab, who is yet to recover from his knee injury.

The former champions, which bowed out of the championship last year, losing to Bengal in the semi-finals, will feel the absence of another speedster Zaheer Khan, who recently switched over to Mumbai.
