Haryana plans to double milk sale by coop societies

Chandigarh, Nov 16 (UNI) For giving a boost to the dairy industry in the state, the Haryana government has prepared an action plan to increase the procurement and sale of milk by the Cooperative Societies by 100 per cent over the next three years.

This was stated by Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation Meena Mandal here today.

She said for increasing the capacity of the Rohtak Milk Plant, an amount of Rs 19 crore had been sanctioned. The work on this plant would be completed over the next three years.

She said that under the 'White Card Scheme' of the Haryana Dairy Development Cooperative Federation, loan upto Rs 1 lakh was being provided to the small and marginal farmers from the selected banks for the purchase of milch cattle.

So far, loans worth Rs 12 crore had been disbursed to 2,574 people for the purchase of 4,039 milch cattle.

The Minister said that under another scheme, every individual working as 'Resource Person' would be given an allowance of Rs 1000 per month from April to September.

Besides, a commission of 25 paise per litre would be paid to those individuals who collected 100 to 200 litres of milk on daily basis. If the quantity of the milk collected exceeds 200 litres, he would be paid a commission of 50 paise per litre.

The 'Woman Resource Person' would be paid an extra commission of 10 paise per litre for constituting Women Cooperative Societies, she added.

She said a target had been fixed to accumulate five lakh litres of milk every day during the current financial year in comparision to the target of accumulation of four lakh litres of milk in 2005-06, the Minister added.
