Former BSF Asst Commandant who made immolation bid near PHQ, dies

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) A former Assistant Commandant of the Border Security Force, who made an immolation bid near the police headquarters at the busy ITO crossing in Central Delhi on November 14, today succumbed to his burn injuries.

Shashi Kumar Shukla, 45, a former Assistant Commandant with the BSF, had doused himself at the ITO crossing, yards away from the high security Police Headquarters Building.

After he fell near the PHQ gate, he was admitted to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital by the police personnel in a critical condition with 90 per cent burn injuries.

A resident of DDA Flats in Hastsal, near Uttam Nagar in West Delhi, Shashi had taken voluntary retirement from the BSF some time back.
