Failure of industrilisation, reason for unemployment

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 16 (UNI) Kerala Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem today said the main reason for unemployment, one of the major threats faced by the state, was the failure to take up industrialisation on its right path.

While inaugurating a computer learning programme for women here, the Minister said no modern industrial units could be started and the traditional industries were facing serious crisis in the state.

The government was going ahead with necessary steps to find a solution to the present situation.

He said the existing industrial units in the state should be modernised. If we want to go ahead in future, the employees should develop their efficiency, he added.

Pointing out that the number of experts among educated youths coming out from the technical institutions in the state were few, he stressed the need for setting up of national level institutions to solve the issue.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), to be alloted the state by the Centre, would be started at Palakkad, Mr Kareem added.
