Elephants kill man, damage crops

Kolhapur, Nov 16 (UNI) A herd of elephants went on a rampage, killing one farmer and damaging crops in the fields of villages near the Maharashtra-Karnataka border yesterday, forest department today said.

The sources said the elephants stormed into the fields and damaged crops in Gadinglaj tehsil of this district.

In another incident, a Sixty-year-old Shivling Manwade alias Navlagee was trampled to death while he was trying to drive the elephants away from his fields located in neighbouring Hatargee village in Hukkeri tehsil of Belgaum district bordering Karnataka last evening, sources said.
