Election scene in Chamundeshwari hots up, 3 more file nominations
Mysore, Nov 16 (UNI) The city of palaces is all set to witness hectic political activity, with the two main rival parties -- Congress and Janata Dal (S) -- holding rallies and processions tomorrow, when filing of nominations would come to an end for the December 4 Chamundeswari Assembly byelection.
While former Prime Minister and JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda and Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy would arrive here tomorrow, most likely accompanying the party's yet-to-be-announced official candidate for filing his nominations, three more independent candidates-Messrs P N Srinath, Bhogadi Nagaraj and Dr D N Venkatesh Gowda- filed their papers on the penultimate day of filing of nominations.
All the top JD(S) leaders and its coalition partner BJP were expected to take part in a rally organised on the occasion.
On the other hand, Congress candidate and former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would be taken in a procession in the city before filing his nomination papers. The Congress had also organised a rally in the city, to be addressed by Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting M H Ambareesh and KPCC President Mallikarjuna Kharge.
So far, six people -- five independents and a Samajwadi Party nominee --have filed their nomination papers for the bypoll.
Scrutiny of nomination papers would be taken up on November 18 and the last date for withdrawal was November 20.
