Dattatreya new state unit President, promises Telangana state
Hyderabad, Nov 16 (UNI) BJP National Secretary Bandaru Dattatreya who was today elected the party's Andhra Pradesh unit President said the dream of the Telangana people for a separate state could be realised only through his party.
Speaking after being elected to the post, he said the BJP which favoured smaller states, would strive for achieving a seperate Telangana.
Mr Dattatreya,who himself hails from the Telangana region, was elected to the post unanimously in place of N Indrasena Reddy, who had completed his three-year term.
Mr Dattatreya said he was planning to deploy a full-time party activist in every assembly constituency for strengthening the party.
Thanking the party ranks who supported him all through his career, he urged them to continue their unstinted support for the discharge of his duties in future also. He will function as state unit President for the next three years.
Meanwhile, Party MP and observer for the election, Mr Thirunavakkarasar told newspersons that only one nomination, that of Dattatreya, was filed, following which he was elected unanimously elected. Senior leaders M Venkaiah Naidu and Bangaru Lakshman were also present when the announcement was made.
