'China creating confusion in Arunachal's people'

Itanagar, Nov 16: Beijing's envoy Sun Yuxi's recent claim of Arunachal Pradesh was aimed at to creating confusion among the people here, according to state Urban Development and PWD minister Nabam Tuki.

"There is no iota of truth in the statement and it was made to create confusion among the peace loving people of this state", referring to Chinese diplomat's claim, Mr Tuki said.

The terriroty of Arunachal was neither a part of China nor of any countries, but remained an integral part of Indian union since its inception, he said while condemning and strongly opposing the statement.

Stating that such a statement would only jeopardise the efforts of the state government to open border trade with China adding this Mr Tuki urged the Centre to initiate dialogue with the Chinese counterpart to ease out the tension.

State Chief Minister Gegong Apang has been insisting for long for reopening of border trade with China through various sectors of the state.

Efforts were also being made for trade with that country through Bumla (Indo-Sino) and Kibitho (Indo-Bhutan) sectors.

Recently, Mr Apang had visited Kibitho in Anjaw district to explore the possibilities of border trade between the two neighbours.

The Indian army had already arranged a series of border personnel meeting (BPM) at Bumla in Tawang sector and planning for such a meeting for the first time at Kibitho on November 18 next.
