BJP demands Centre to play 'pro-active' role
Tiruchirappali, Nov 16 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of BJP today demanded India must play a 'pro-active' role rather than being a mere spectator in Sri Lankan Tamils issue.
Talking to newspersons here, BJP State Unit Vice-President M Raja said the Centre should realise the fact that all Tamils in Sri Lanka were not part of the Liberation of Tigers Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
On Mullaiperiyar issue, he took strong exception to Kerala Water Resources Minister N K Premachandran's remarks that Kerala would go to any 'extent' if the talks between Tamil Nadu and Kerala on the Dam issue failed.
''It is very unfortunate that a Minister made such remarks, even before the commencement of talks'', he said.
The Tamil Nadu government should take a decision considering the interests of the people of Tamil Nadu, he added.
