Amar Singh asks media not to 'glamourise' kidnapping incident

New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh today cautioned the media against ''glamourising'' the kidnapping of three-year old Anant, the son of Adobe India CEO Naresh Gupta, saying it would only harm the safety of an innocent life.

''It will not be judicious on my part to make comments on the issue except that the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh is making all possible efforts to secure the child's release at the earliest,'' Mr Singh told reporters here.

He, however, made an impassioned plea to the media ''not to glamourise'' the incident or create a hype over it because it would only encourage criminals. ''You must also remember that even Anant's father has made a similar request to the media,'' he added.

Refusing to make any comment on the status of the investigations in the kidnapping incident, Mr Singh said he joined the nation in praying to God that the child is released safe and secure without any further delay.

Anant was kidnapped by two motorcycle-borne people on Monday just outside his Noida home while he was on his way to a nearby school. The kidnappers have reportedly demanded Rs two crore as ransom from his parents.
