Air India stuns Mohd Sporting 2-1, JCT beats TFA 2-0 in Durand
New Delhi, Nov 16 (UNI) Air India stunned Kolkata giant Mohammedan Sportings 2-1, while JCT Phagwara slammed two late goals to tame Tata Football Academy 2-0 in the pre-quarterfinal match of the 119th Osian's Durand Cup here today.
Mohd. Sporting began well with Noel Anthony firing in the opening salvo in the fourth minute.
Air India, however, returned the favour through Noel Fernandes in the 39th minute and both the teams went into the breather on even honour.
The second half saw a better brand of soccer and Bashiru Abbas put paid to Sporting's dreams by scoring the winner in the 81st minute.
In the other match of the day, TFA went neck-and-neck with JCT for the major part of the match but towards the end, the Jamshedpur boys ran out of steam as JCT captain Praveen shot in the first goal in the 78th minute.
Team-mate Chidi fired in the second goal three minutes later to ensure a comfortable win over Tata.
TFA meets BSF and Mohd Sporting takes on Assam Rifles tomorrow.
