124.28 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Punjab mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 16 (UNI) Over 124.28 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Punjab so far, as against about 135.75 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Food and Supplies Minister S Lal Singh said today that out of the total arrival, over 28,93,821 tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 21,73,219 tonnes by Markfed, 27,16,705 tonnes by Punsup, 11,79,485 tonnes by PSWC, 13,54,457 tonnes by PAIC, 2,27,244 tonnes by FCI and 1883821 tonnes by the Millers in the state till November 15.

He also said paddy procured yesterday by Pungrain was 8,638 tonnes, Markfed 648 tonnes, Punsup 377 tonnes, PSWC 261 tonnes, PAIC 625 tonnes, FCI 58 tonnes and by Millers 6,760 tonnes.

The grade 'A' variety of paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 1,23,25,481 tonnes, while common variety of paddy was 1,03,271 tonnes.
