UP govt to reward medal winners of SAF, national games
Lucknow, Nov 15 (UNI) For promoting sports and sportsperson in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government today decided to award medal winners in South-Asian Federation (SAF) Games and National Games.
The decision of the awards was taken here in the state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The SAF Games medal individual winners would get Rs 3 lakh for Gold, Rs 2 lakh for silver, while Rs one lakh for bronze. In the team events, Rs one lakh for gold, Rs 50,000 for silver and Rs 25,000 for bronze would be given.
In the National Games, the medal individual winners and team events, would get awards between Rs 2,000 to Rs 40,000.
The government also approved a proposal to construct a women sports college in Allahabad to promote sports among the girls. This would be the second women sports college in the state after Safai.
State Environment Minister Ujjawal Raman Singh here said 47 acres of land had already been acquired for the women sports collage situated at Jhunsi in Allahabad.
The minister, who hails from Allahabad, said a cricket stadium, indoor stadium/ multipurpose hall along with a guest house would be constructed in the sports college.
The state government has earmarked Rs 41.60 crore for the construction of the women sports college.
