Training programme for panchayat Presidents commences

Tuticorin, Nov 15 (UNI) Minister for Animal Husbandry Geetha Jeevan inaugurated the basic training programme for village Panchayat Presidents belonging to 408 panchayats in the district today.

The programme would be conducted in four phases. The Presidents of Tuticorin, Karungulam and Ottapidaram unions would attend the programme from today.

The second phase would be on Nov 17 and 18 for the village Panchayat Presidents of Tiruchendur, Srivaikundam, Alwarthirunagari and Udangudi. The Presidents of Kovilpatti and Kayathar panchayats would attend the third phase training on Nov 20, 21. The Presidents belonging to Vilathikulam and Pudur unions would attend the training on Nov 22 and 23.

District Collector Palaniyandi presided over the function while Block Development Officer Sankar welcomed the gathering. Assistant Director (panchayat development) Charles delivered the vote of thanks.
