Three arrested for illegal dumping of iron ore
Bellary, Nov 15 (UNI) Forest officials have arrested three people and booked 15 others for allegedly storing over two lakh tones of iron ore valued at Rs 27 crore in a yard belonging to a private mining company in this district illegally.
District Forest Officer P Rajsekhar said in a release here that cases had been booked against the 15 people for not producing any legal documents with regard to the dumping and as well as indulging in illegal mining.
The mobile squad conducted a raid on the yard last night and found iron ore dump with out valid permit. The arrested were remanded to judicial custody by Judicial Magistrate of Sandur court.
The booking of cases created a flutter in state capital Bangalore as the names included that of the wife, brother and sister of former Minister and Congress leader D K Shivakumar.
The Congress condemned the incident as vindictive politics and alleged that Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had a hand in the incident.
