Terrorism has destroyed Afghanistan, says Karzai
Shimla, Nov 15 (UNI) Admitting that terrorism had destroyed his country, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai today said his government and the people would continue to resist it since it was duty of all to get rid of terrorism.
Addressing a gathering at Himachal Pradesh University here, he said terrorism has destroyed the country and though the country was very stable it was not peaceful as the people continued to suffer due to terrorism.
Without naming Taliban, he said Afghanistan had been pushed at least 30 years behind because of terrorism that had wrought sufferings to the people of the country.
Mr Karzai called upon all the countries of the world to join Afghanistan in taking on the scourge of terrorism that was against humanity.
He said the Afghani people were pressurizing him to form a political party in the country, but since he neither clever enough nor did he have the requisite skill to do so, he would not succumb to the pressure.
Referring to his country's relationship with India, he said the relationship between the two was very strong and efforts were on to strengthen them further.
India is traditionally not an aid-giving country, still it has given 700 million dollars aid in the last five years and is one of the frontline countries to help Afghanistan for which the nation and its people are very thankful.'' MORE UNI AS HS SK RS2109
