Sonia Gandhi and Digvijay to visit Andhra
Hyderabad, Nov 15: All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Digvijay Singh would visit Andhra Pradesh towards the end of this month.
While Ms Gandhi would go to Tirupati on November 25 to participate in a state government programme, Mr Singh would campaign for Congress candidates of Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha constituencies, for which by-elections were scheduled on December 4, 2006.
According to party sources, Mr Digvijay Singh would campaign on November 22 and 23 for Mr T Jeevan Reddy, contesting against Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, whose resignation necessitated the by-poll.
He would campaign in Bobbili in Vizianagaram district on November 24 and then address party workers in Vizianagaram.
The Congress party had already appointed ministers to oversee the party campaign in both constituencies and directed all major leaders including ministers and MLAs to take active interest in the poll.
Mr Chandrasekhara Rao had resigned protesting the delay in the formation of a separate Telangana. In Bobbili, Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) sitting MP K Paidithalli Naidu had passed away.
