Singapore clash with Palestine called off

SINGAPORE, Nov 15 (Reuters) Singapore's Asian Cup qualifier against Palestine was called off today, hours before the teams had been due to play each other.

The match was cancelled due to difficulties encountered by the Palestine team in travelling out of their country as a result of heightened political tension in Gaza, the Asian Football Confederation told the Singapore Football Association.

Neither Singapore nor Palestine can qualify for next year's finals with Iraq and 2004 Asian Cup hosts China having already guaranteed their places.

The 2007 Asian Cup will be co-hosted by Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia from July 7-29.
