Schools to be set up in Co-op sector in Puducherry

Puducherry, Nov 15: The Puducherry administration proposes to start schools in the Cooperative sector, Chief Minister N Rangasamy has announced here.

Inaugurating the 53rd ''Cooperative Week'' celebrations and distributing prizes to nine Cooperative Societies here yesterday, he said hitherto, teachers training institutes were being started in the Cooperative sector. Now, the government would set up schools also.

He said to ensure jobs to Cooperative handloom weavers, the government was buying sarees and dhotis from the societies for free distribution scheme, and urged them to take steps to supply the required stocks in time.

Pointing out that the requirement of milk has gone up in the union territory, he urged the Cooperative sector to concentrate more on milk production.
