Sale of agricultural land made hassle-free in Gujarat

Gandhinagar, Nov 15 (UNI) The Gujarat Cabinet today decided that an agriculturist in the rural area who holds a land for over 15 years can sell or transfer his land for agricultural purposes without paying any amount.

The decision, taken at a meeting under the leadership of Chief Minister Narendra, would benefit agriculturists belonging to weaker sections, an official release said here.

However, in urban areas, where premium has to be paid for selling agricultural land as per the notified rates of taxation, would now entail one single tax, the release said.

This single-tax structure would usher in transparency in the sale of land for agricultural purposes, the release added.
