Rakesh Mohan bags award from Singapore
New Delhi, Nov 15: Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor Rakesh Mohan will receive a prestigious award from the Singapore government for playing a key role in enhancing trade and investment ties between the two countries.
Dr Mohan was the Co-Chair of the Joint Study Group on Economic cooperation in 2002-03, which was the precursor of the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) which was signed between two countries in June 2005.
The SIPF was the brainchild of the former Prime Minister of Singapore Goh Chok Tong managed by Singapore Business Federation (SBF) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with an objective to strengthen India-Singapore relations through economic, government, academia and cultural linkages.
CII and SBF through the SIFP aim to advance their objectives by granting Exchange Fellowships, Visiting Fellowships, and Post Graduate scholarships to outstanding Singapore or Indian nationals from various disciplines like government, academia and media. SIPF is Co-Chaired by SBF Trustee and Network India Chairman Sat Pal Khattar and CII Past President and Godrej&Boyce Mfg Co Ltd Chairman and Managing Director JN Godrej.
The other members of the SIPF Board include Mr Peter Ong, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore; Ascendas CEO Chong Siak Ching, CII Vice President and Bharti Enterprises Chairman and Group MD Sunil Mittal and CII Chief Mentor Tarun Das.
