Raja Bhaiyya's father granted bail
Jabalpur, Nov 15 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Minister Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya's father Uday Pratap Singh was today granted bail by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Hearing an appeal filed by Mr Uday Pratap, a division bench comprising Justice Shravan Shankar Jha and Justice Sushma Srivastava ordered a lower to court to release him on a bail of Rs 10,000.
On June 2, a Special POTA court here had convicted Mr Uday Pratap on the charge of possessing A K 56 rifle and other weapons, which were seized from his house on Januar 23, 2003.
He was sentenced to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 25,000.
However, Raja Bhaiyya and his cousin Akshay Pratap Singh were acquitted for want of evidence.
Earlier, a witness, Mr Avdhesh Shukla, had challenged Raja Bhaiyya and his cousin's acquittal in the High Court, which issued a warrant against the duo. Both obtained bail by presenting themselves and furnishing a bond before the High Court on November 13.
