Punjab Police arrest Namibian on fraud charges
Ludhiana, Nov 15 (UNI) The Punjab Police today arrested a Namibian on charges of attemtpting to defraud a local businessman.
Giving details the police said here that David Palini, a citizen of Namibia was arrested when he came to collect a sum of 35,000 dollar from local businessman Vinay Mittal. He was booked under sections 420, 120-B of the IPC and section 66 of the Information Technology Act.
According to the SP of the area, a couple of days back the businessman on his a mail from a Namibian based company, asking him to enter into a financial deal with them if he was interested.
According to the deal, Mittal was to deposit 35,000 dollar into the companys bank account through the on-line banking system and in return the company after sometime would repay him of about two lakh dollar.
However, the businessman sent an e-mail requesting the company that the money should be collected by a representative from him in Ludhiana. The company agreed to send their representative and the date was fixed.
Mr Mittal informed the police about the entire deal which led to the arrest of the Namibian.
