Over 36 lakh tonnes paddy arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) Over 36.79 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in Haryana mandis so far this season.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan today said that out of the total paddy arrival, 28 lakh tonnes were leviable and 8.79 lakh tonnes basmati and other superior quality.

He said over 20.27 lakh tonnes of paddy had been procured by six government agencies at the minimum support price and the remaining 16.52 lakh tonnes had been purchased by the private millers and traders.

Mr Chander Mohan said Hafed had procured 8.96 lakh tonnes of paddy, followed by Food and Supplies Department with 6 lakh tonnes, Haryana Agro-Industries Corporation with about 2.41 lakh tonnes, Confed with about 1.74 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation with 1.02 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India with 10,850 tonnes.

He said that Kurukshetra district was leading with about 7.08 lakh tonnes of paddy arrival, followed by Karnal with 5.31 lakh tonnes, Fatehabad 4.80 lakh tonnes, Kaithal 4.67 lakh tonnes and Ambala 3.13 lakh tonnes.

He said the state had also delivered over 3.09 lakh tonnes of rice to the central pool so far, as against 2.18 lakh tonnes of rice delivered during the corresponding period last year.
