Over 124 lakh tonne paddy arrives in Punjab mandis

Chandigarh, Nov 15 (UNI) Over 124.11 lakh tonnes of paddy has arrived in various mandis of Punjab so far as against about 135.25 lakh tonnes during the corresponding period last year.

Disclosing this here today, Food and Supplies Minister Lal Singh said that out of the total arrival over 28.85 lakh tonnes of paddy was procured by Pungrain, 21.72 lakh tonnes by Markfed, 27.16 lakh tonnes by Punsup, 11.79 lakh tonnes by PSWC, 13.53 lakh tonnes by PAIC, 2.27 lakh tonnes by FCI and 18.77 lakh tonnes by the private millers in the state till yesterday.

He further said that Grade 'A' variety of paddy arrived in various mandis of the state was 123.08 lakh tonnes, while common variety of paddy arrived in mandis was 1.03 lakh tonnes.
